Notes for course leaders on use of Maitreya House. 1. HEATING/WARM WATER They are both turned on by the switch (with red light) below timer above yellow cupboard. The heating is on timer. Instructions are with it. You can override the timer by the ³advance² button. Heating can be switched off by the ³reset² button (open the little lid on lower part of the timer/clock). Temperature in the house is regulated by turning up/down thermostats on radiators. If heating is not needed, please ³override² or ³reset² on ³off². Please, ensure that heating is not on unnecessarily. The hot water is on as long as the switch shows the red light. When leaving after workshop, please turn off hot water/heater by red switch. 2. GAS BOTTLE Gas bottle is to be found outside, underneath kitchen window. There should always be a spare bottle besides it. To change bottles, you would ned a spanner which can be found in the storage room in the utility block. Always let Ad know when you have changed bottle, so that he can get a full one immediately for a next change. 3. LIGHTS Electricity bills are high, please ensure that lights are turned off when not needed. CHECK LIST : TO BE DONE BEFORE DEPARTURE Heating/hot water: switch off Lights: switch off (check all rooms ) Gas: to be turned off on outside bottle (turn off at bottle and lever on gas pipe) Windows/doors: all to be closed properly Kutis: switch off all electricity/heaters; lock doors and windows Garbage: empty bins and put bags in bin provided in stone shed Plant: to water Ensure that any used garden tools are clean stored and store is closed Utility block: - shower block: switch off all lights (also outside light!) and heaters - shower block: close all windows and lock outside door - laundry room: lights off and door locked - storage room: all lights off and outside door locked Fridge/freezer: remove all perishables; clean and leave open (switched off) Cleaning: ensure that the house and kutis are left clean as you found them as a welcome for the next group Cleaning materials, toilet paper, etc.: leave a note indicating any shortage Light bulbs: leave a note indicating any shortage Oil tank: check level of oil General: leave a note indicating any repairs you found are needed CHECK LIST There is a check list on the board in the house. It shows a column indicating the activities as above, a column for "ticking off" when carried out, plus a column indicating the person responsiblity for it and column for notes.
